If you recall my maternity session with Tracy at the Sand Dunes you will remember it was windy and insane, but yet magical, even with my few tears. I remember leaving the session being so worried about them even turning out but I realized really quickly you just need Tracy to make dreams come true.

We drove 2 hours this time to Bonneville Salt Flats and it was really amazing and the light was setting up to be perfect. We got out of the car walked over to the Salt Flats, it wasn’t to windy yet. After about 20 minutes of shooting it started to pick up so we started to shoot a little quicker, and then it really hit. I was getting blown over with Rooney, so we ran to the car. Then came the wind storm/rain storm. I swear every single time hah. We shot for about 35 minutes and go so many amazing and beautiful images. We didn’t have enough time to get more of just Rooney and Trent but we will make sure he gets his own shoot soon!

Family pictures can be so so stressful but honestly I recommend you just take a few minutes before and breathe. Kids are going to do what they are going to do, so embrace that. Rooney is so serious and not a huge smiler and I remember thinking I didn’t want to push her and make her mad by wasting time or bugging her to smile, so I am embracing her serious self! Family pictures are more then just looking at the camera to me. They are capturing your family in their element and connecting with each other.

I’ve had so so many people ask about these images and I wanted to mention a few things. Tracy is amazing. She truly is so gifted and talented and that is a huge reason this session turned out so well. You want someone who knows what they are doing and has experience with different light. She truly is one of the most gifted photographers I have met. So be smart about who you pick.

Outfits. Our worst nightmare sometimes with shoots. I knew I wanted something that was soft and whimsical looking but I didn’t want to do a dress again so I found this amazing jumpsuit from Free People. Rooney’s little outfit was actually the first thing I got so I matched to her. I wanted her to have the most color and I loved this darling little Jamie Kay jumper from Barba and Roo . Last but not least, I really wanted a few pictures of me and Rooney in her sling. It was so important to have those images since we do it so much. This sling is from Wild Bird and I truly love them so much and so does Rooney.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to ask any questions!
